Hello, I am Micah

I am so glad you found your way here!

I believe we have so much to learn from each other, and I want to know YOUR story; where you’ve been but most of all, where you want to go (and I want to help you get there).  I also know, if you are considering investing in coaching, you may want to learn more about me, my qualifications, and how I came to be a women’s nutrition and fitness coach.

I am a certified nutrition coach, yoga instructor, and certified personal trainer specializing in perimenopause and menopausal nutrition and fitness. My passion is empowering women to live a full and healthy life through mindset, education, nutrition, and exercise. I have been a lifelong student of nutrition and wellness ever since going to aerobic classes with my mom and cooking our “diet lunches”  (cottage cheese with pineapple, canned green beans, and a hamburger patty)— in the 1980s!   This was before the fat-free phase— we did that too though!  I also remember cooking with my grandma, making a “colorful” plate while finding the joy and ritual of making dinner for your family. If I remember correctly, her 5 o’clock cocktail might have added to that joy.  I still LOVE cooking and eating all the delicious things.  Some might call me a foodie.   All of this to say, life is too short for plain chicken breast and steamed broccoli.

In college, I became certified in group fitness classes and taught classes at Ohio University while working on my Bachelors's in Organizational and Interpersonal Communications.  I loved planning the classes - and the playlists! Many years later, I fell in love with mindfulness and breath linked to movement and became a yoga instructor while working on my Masters in Speech Language Pathology.  I taught at my beloved yogahOMe studio for years, worked independently with college and youth sports teams, and taught classes for teens. I still teach private classes as well.

When I became pregnant with my first child in 2009, I sought resources for “recommended and safe” exercise practices and received the message “do what you normally do,” so I did.  Looking back and knowing what I know now, hovering in plank pose was not a good idea. After having four boys (including two c-sections, two VBACs, 3rd-degree tear, and a 10 lb baby), I had a host of pelvic floor and core issues such as diastasis recti, leakage, and prolapse.  Information and resources weren’t easy to access so I started educating myself on how to heal.

As I moved into my 40s, I also wanted to learn how to navigate perimenopause so that I would be prepared for the changes. I once again felt like the information I was seeking wasn’t readily available. The majority of personal trainers/coaches are men and the majority of people who access those services are women. I knew then that I wanted to help educate and coach other women through these life stages so that they could live fuller, healthier lives.

As a mom to four boys with dreams of my own, I understand the hustle of life and the various demands, stressors, and fleeting amounts of time for self-care. I believe that as women, we might not be able to “do it all”, but we CAN make space for ourselves.. for a walk, gym session, or prepping some healthy meals for the week. If you want to build more confidence in yourself and balance and health in your life, I would love to be your guide.
